Waste of money! Very little info here and nothing in the print version that directs you to the links listed in the book.
Not quite what I was expecting. I consider myself a beginner, but this book is more of a collection of where to find links to websites. I had already discovered most of the items and websites before I read the book. There is very little programming described in the book. You are better off finding resources for free on the Internet. I bought it based on the recommendation from Amazon and the reviews, plus it is labeled as a Best Seller. Granted, the price is only a few bucks, but I could have coupled the few bucks to another book that would have been worth my time to read.
Very misleading title. Should be "Beginner to slightly informed". Nothing is in the book that couldn't be very quickly found online (probably even on the official Pi website). Perhaps I had too high expectations for the book, but it certainly isn't worth the $12 I payed. If it were under $4 perhaps.
Disappointed with this book. It's pretty short and I found it lacking in information. It has a lot of general product information. There's a section dedicated to show you how to buy a RPI. I was expecting more substance and wish I bought something else instead.
All information in this book can very easily be found online. It is only 89 pages long & the lettering is very bold. This is a complete ripoff. All the info is very simple, by no means will you be a "pro" by the end. This is a very basic pamphlet, that is all.
Not enough detail to be considered worthy of a pro. To me, "step by step" implies there would be detail in its pages. It's okay for a beginner but, for the money, it's no bargain. It's only 90 pages and, had I known that (I didn't look) and looked inside at the large font and good amounts of white space, I'd have realized that it was really only fitting for a beginner. Nothing is in-depth, there's no index, etc. So, bottom line, it's okay but, should only be about $5.00.
This book is completely RAD! It contains information on choosing and installing the right operating system on your RPI3, lessons on wiring your RPI to devices such as switches, motors, and LEDs, detailed step-by-step instructions on creating your own media streaming device to turn your old HDMI TV or monitor into a smart TV that can connect to your home media server, turning your RPI3 into a retro gaming emulator, and even building your own arcade cabinet. This book has way more useful hobbyist information than I imagined, and I never thought that the "purchased together with" section on Amazon would prove so useful. A+
86 pages (barely) of random information that purport to show you how to boot the Pi and run a couple of small examples followed by some generic project ideas and a section on "advanced circuits" typified by how to wire in a motor. The few code examples are undocumented and far too specific to be generally useful.My favorite part of the book was the following set of instructions from the arcade cabinet project, "3. Cut and assemble the rest of the arcade cabinet. 4. Remove any electronics, and either paint or stain the wood. Add clear coat for a smooth surface."If zero stars was an option then that's what I'd give Mr. Short's "book." There are much better sources of information elsewhere. Don't waste your money. I'm returning my copy for a refund.
