O AUTOR: Tendo-se iniciado na patinagem aos 8 anos e no hóquei em patins aos 12, nos jogos oficiais de juniores em Moçambique, Francisco Velasco ingressa aos 19 anos na Selecção de Moçambique e, em 1955, vem pela primeira vez a Portugal com o SNECI. De 1956 a 1960, faz parte da Selecção Nacional Portuguesa e conquista os títulos de Campeão do Mundo, da Europa e Latino. Iniciou a sua carreira de treinador em 1956, no Ferroviário de Moçambique. Foi ainda treinador do Clube Sporting de Lourenço Marques e dos Clubes Fiestaland e Associação Portuguesa de Joanesburgo. Membro da Comissão Nacional de Moçambique de 1978 a 1980, é o responsável pela preparação da Selecção Nacional de Angola que disputa, em Barcelos e Lisboa, o 25.° Campeonato do Mundo.
